Creative Writing For The Internet

In yesterday’s article about creative writing, we looked at some of the reasons why people shy away from creating good quality content for the Internet, even though this process is the key to effective promotion of their websites on Google or any other search engine.

There are many reasons why you need to get into writing content on a regular basis:

  • You will start the process of branding yourself as an expert in your chosen niche. Brand yourself in this way and you will have people calling you instead of you having to call them!
  • As you write, you will find that it gets easier after a while.
  • As you write you will find that you will learn some amazing things about your business, yourself and your prospects.
  • The content that you provide generates backlinks to your primary website, which is how you can, over time, ensure that your site gets ranked highly by Google.

So how do you get started? Well, here’s a challenge I have for you that will get you on the right track. As you will see, this is easier than you may think.

  1. Do some simple keyword research to see how people are searching for your products or services on the Internet. Don’t know how to do this? Here’s a great video that will get you started: http://www.veretekk.com/veretraining.recordings/keywords.htm.
  2. Pick one keyword phrase to target.
  3. Go to my Free Classifieds site and write and submit 1,000 ads for your business. Do not attempt to sell, just provide good quality information on what your business is all about. Each ad should be slightly different. Here’s a great video to get you started: http://seoexperttechniques.com/Classified_Ads.htm.   1,000 ads? Am I kidding? Actually, no – by going through this process you will actually train yourself to be focused and will start to learn how to write content that is of good quality. And, by the way, you have just begun a very effective SEO campaign for your website…
  4. Now take those same ads you just created and create 500 free web pages at my Free Web Pages site. Again, this will train you to be focused and you will also learn some simple HTML in the process. If you need some direction here, contact me.

 

If you want to build a successful, profitable and sustainable business on the Internet, you need to learn to be focused, to write good content, and to work hard at it. You will not see overnight success, despite what the ‘gurus’ would have you believe. Over time, with concentrated effort and focused direction, you can generate whatever level of income you are willing to work to achieve.

One word of wisdom: don’t try to do it alone. Find yourself a good mentor or coach (like me…) or join a great team of like-minded people who can give you direction. Online business these days is all about relationships and contacts.
